Two Hippie Chic

A gathering of pretty things, lovely links and loads of fun brought to you by one Western Hippie lady and one New York Chic gal.

Engaged!

The details!

This weekend Russell and I headed to Jackson Hole.  Saturday night we canoed on Jackson Lake and camped at a little backcountry site.

For basically the entire month of July, my intuition was going off like crazy.  Every day, all I could think was: He’s going to propose to me.  We’re totally getting engaged.  I wonder what the ring looks like.

So we get to our campsite and all I could think was, am I crazy?  Am I about to get engaged?  I’m totally going to get engaged.

We set up our tent and then he’s all “Let’s take a break and have a beer and look at the view.”  And I’m thinking, but we’re not tired?  OMG HE’S GOING TO DO IT.

So we sit in our camp chairs and he is very obviously nervous.  He has his backpack in his hand which I think is peculiar.  He goes “I have a present for you.”

My thoughts: OHHHH MYYYY GOOOOOD.  My actions: nervous laughter.

So I open my present, it’s a basket with red roses, two wine glasses, and a bottle of Conundrum (my favorite wine).  And I’m all, ok, what’s next, what’s next?!

So Russell goes, nervously, “I have another present, and this is it! (shows me ring)”  Then he says something about wanting to marry me but it wasn’t in the form of a question so I just laugh nervously and don’t say anything.

And then I go: YOU HAVE TO SAY IT IN THE FORM OF A QUESTION!!

What, are we on Jeopardy?!

So he does.  And I say YESSSS!!

And then he whips out an album full of all of the pictures he could find of us on Facebook and our computer.  We’re going to caption them and then add our engagement pictures.

Happy is an understatement.  Elated.  Excited.  Surreal.

Also?  Changing your relationship on Facebook is crazy.  I’ve never even been “in a relationship” with him on Facebook.  Holy Facebook notifications!
